    There is no tactility (click feeling) in flat key membrane switch. That means you can not feel the plateau on the button and no click sound can be heard when pressed down. Why use that? It is the most inexpensive and long-life solution. Typically, flat key membrane switch can be found in some home appliances, like microwave oven.
